Florida State Fair Announced Fair Foodie Award
‘The Big Jerk’ is the winner of the Fair Foodie Award, weighing more than 2 pounds and available at the Caribbean Noodles food vendor
“The Big Jerk” is the winner of the annual Fair Foodie Award, the Florida State Fair announced Monday. The winning recipe weighs more than 2 pounds and is made with tortilla chips layered with island rice and beans, a thick layer of shredded jerk chicken, lettuce, Caribbean cheese sauce and topped with fresh pico de gallo.
The recipe was created by Mitzanne Graver-Conway and can be found every day at the Florida State Fair at the Caribbean Noodles food vendor, near the Midway Sky Eye.
The Big Jerk was one of 14 unique recipes that were entered into the Fair Foodie Awards contest and are being served at the Florida State Fair this year. Some of the other contest nominees include Thomas Barletta’s Bacon Cheeseburger Chompers; Kevin McGrath’s Banana Frenkle Funnel Cake; Ryan Hagy’s Catfish Sundae; Zach Swift’s Chicken & Waffle Pizza.
The Fair Foodie Award is a people’s choice award that is voted on by the public through the Florida State Fair official website. The Big Jerk and all of the nominated dishes for the Fair Foodie Award can be purchased every day at the Florida State Fair now through Feb. 19. The fair is located at 4800 US Hwy 301 North, in Tampa.
