New principal to takeover Hernando County’s Parrott Middle School

BROOKSVILLE — A new top administrator is coming to Parrott Middle School, filling the spot recently vacated by Brent Gaustad, who has taken over at struggling Moton Elementary.

Ed LaRose, 37, will begin at Parrott on July 1, leaving his role as an assistant principal at Springstead High. Hernando County School District has not yet announced who will take his place.

“Parrot Middle is a school with knowledgeable staff and a supportive parent network,” LaRose said in a news release. “With those vital components in place, I believe my strength in developing strong relationships and building collaborative professional learning teams will combine to move Parrott Middle to the next level.”

LaRose is a native of Hernando and a graduate of Central High School, according to the news release. He began work with the district in 2005, as a math teacher at Nature Coast Technical High, and went on to win the district’s Teacher of the Year award in 2010.

In 2014, LaRose became an assistant principal at Hernando High, before moving to Springstead in 2015.

“[LaRose] leads from a place of compassion and with a strong commitment to our community,” Hernando schools Superintendent Lori Romano said in a news release. “He is a wonderful match for [Parrott].”
