Rays Opening Day Brings New Food Items to The Trop
Opening Day 03/29/2019. The Tampa Bay Rays begin the 2018 season at Tropicana Field on Thursday with a 4 p.m. game against the Boston Red Sox. The home opener is sold out for the 13th straight season.
The Rays are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and will hold special events to mark two decades in Major League Baseball.
The Rays have also announced some new ballpark menu items that will be introduced to fans on Thursday.
Some of these include: The Rays Up Burger (Sections 126, 140, 119)that features melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and dill pickles with a signature “burst sauce” on a potato bun.
Also, fans can try the Sunburst Nachos (Sections 107, 347) which is comprised of fried blue corn tortilla chips with golden cheese sauce, sour cream and pico de gallo.
The Rays website also announced these food items at the Trop this season: For the healthy eater, a kale Cobb salad at Section 122; a reuben Cuban sandwich with beer braised sauerkraut, corn beef, hot dog, pickles, swiss cheese at Section 147; chicken tinga tacos with shredded lettuce, salsa and cilantro at Section 138; chili cheese corn dog at Section 107; and an empanada served with chimichurri at Section 147.
New specialty stands include Pressed (Center Field Street), Central Burger (First and Third Base Food Halls), Fresh Mex (Right Field Street) and Rocco’s Ball Deli (First Base Food Hall).
